Beyond the Track: My Experience at the Chicago Sports Summit

This week, I had the opportunity to attend the Chicago Sports Summit and share my story in front of a room filled with professionals, athletes, and leaders in the sports industry.

For me, this experience was about more than just telling my story. It was an opportunity to grow, build relationships, and continue developing myself beyond the track.

As I work toward returning to world-class competition, I've realized that this journey is about more than running fast. It's also about the people I meet, the experiences I gain, and the impact I can make along the way.

Three Things I Took Away From Chicago

01 Sharing My Story Can Make an Impact

After three knee surgeries and years away from competition, I've learned a lot about resilience, patience, and perseverance.

Being able to speak openly about those challenges and where I'm headed gave me the opportunity to connect with people beyond the track.

If my experience can inspire even one person going through their own challenges, that makes sharing my story worthwhile.

02 Relationships Create Opportunities

One of the biggest highlights was connecting with brands, professionals, and people throughout the sports industry.

I had the opportunity to connect with companies including Nice Recovery Systems, Icarus Medical, and Thuasne USA.

Some of the best opportunities start with a simple conversation. I'm learning how important it is to build genuine relationships, especially as I continue growing as both an athlete and a professional.

03 Growth Happens Outside Your Comfort Zone

Public speaking is something I've wanted to improve.

Standing on stage in front of a large audience pushed me outside my comfort zone, but it also gave me an opportunity to develop a skill that I know will be valuable throughout my life.

Whether it's competing on the track, speaking at an event, or building relationships, I want to continue challenging myself to grow.

Looking Ahead

A huge thank you to the Chicago Sports Summit for giving me the platform to share my journey, and to Dr. Brian Cole for his support and for being part of the experience.

I left Chicago with new relationships, more confidence, and even more motivation to keep growing.

As I continue preparing for the 2027 World Championships and working toward the 2028 Olympics, experiences like this remind me that the journey is bigger than just competing.

It's about becoming the best version of myself, both on and off the track.

The journey continues.
