Back on the Starting Line: My First Official Race in Three Years

First official meet in three years

After three years away from official competition, I finally stepped back onto the starting line.

The last few years have been some of the hardest of my life. Three knee surgeries, countless hours of rehabilitation, and moments where I wasn't sure if I would ever race again tested me in ways I never expected. Before one of my surgeries, I was even told there was a possibility I might never run again.

This weekend wasn't about chasing personal records. It was about proving that I belonged back on the track.

I competed in my first official meet in three years and ran 10.26 and 10.12, both legal times. Seeing those numbers on the scoreboard meant far more than just running fast. They represented years of work, patience, setbacks, and refusing to give up.

While I'm proud of those performances, I know they're only the beginning. My goal isn't just to race again. It's to return to the world-class level I once competed at and earn another opportunity to represent Team USA.

What many people don't see is everything that happens before race day.

My typical day starts before sunrise with strength training. After that, I work a full-time job before heading to physical therapy, recovery sessions, and finally the track for sprint practice. Most days don't end until late in the evening, followed by stretching, eating, and preparing to do it all over again the next day.

Every sprint, every rehab session, every lift, and every sacrifice is another step toward my ultimate goal: competing at the highest level again.

Running 10.26 and 10.12 gave me confidence that I'm moving in the right direction, but I know there's another level still ahead. This journey isn't about returning to who I was. It's about becoming an even stronger athlete than before.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me, prayed for me, donated, or simply believed in this comeback. Your encouragement reminds me that this journey is bigger than just me.

The comeback is officially underway, and we're only getting started.

Next Goal

Continue lowering my times throughout the season while building towards qualifying for the 2027 World Championships and ultimately the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
